Obituary

Joseph “Giuseppe” “Peppino” DiFabio, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford and East Boston, died peacefully at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. He was 80.

Mr. DiFabio was born and raised in Arielli, Italy, the son of the late Ferdinando and the late Assunta (DiCamillo) DiFabio. After a brief career in professional soccer, Joseph moved to Argentina where he met his wife and began his family. He later came to the United States, first to East Boston and Medford, later settling in Stoneham. An honest and hardworking man Joseph was a shop and mill cabinet-maker with local 51, before his retirement.

The loving husband of Nelida (D'Keini) DiFabio, he was a devoted father to Dr. Liliana DiFabio of Boston, Louie DiFabio and his wife Teresa of Revere and Alex DiFabio of Stoneham. He was the cherished grandfather of Anthony, Marc, Nicolas and Cristina. He was a dear brother to Angiolina DiPrinzio of PA, Ilda Silveri, Grazia Flacco and Ada DiFabio, all of Italy and the late Salvatore, Guido, Armando and Alberto DiFabio, Nelda Bertelle and Ines Valentini.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Monday, February 27 at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield. Services will conclude with burial at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Joseph’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
