CHICOPEE – Rita R. (Archambault) Bernard Bisson, 87, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 22, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life from Wingate at West Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on May 29, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Emile and Eva (Daviau) Archambault. She was raised in Holyoke and lived in the city for many years before moving to Chicopee around 1976. She was employed as a secretary and later as a mail clerk at the former National Blank Book Company in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild and a member of the church choir. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by: her beloved husband, Joseph C. Bernard, who was Called Home on July 20, 1971; and her loving sons, Ronald, Richard and George Bernard. She leaves: her loving daughter, Christine J. Proulx and her husband, Jeff, of Granby; her four cherished grandchildren, Justin Bernard, Nicholas Bernard, Jeremy Proulx and Jesse Proulx and his wife, Jill; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Cameron Bernard and Morgan Jacqueline Proulx; her husband, Julien A. Bisson of Holyoke; her brother, Gerald Archambault of Northampton; her sisters, Gabrielle Miller of Rutland, VT and Germaine D’astous and her husband, George, of Northampton; her sisters-in-law, Theresa Archambault of Holyoke, Theresa Archambault of Chicopee, and Alice Archambault of South Hadley; and her many nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Alcedor, Lucien and Marcel Archambault and Theresa Cormier. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February 28, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:45 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
