SALEM – Maria J. (Blaszkiewicz) Burkacka, 70, born on September 26th, 1941 in Zielun, Poland., wife of Edward Burkacki for 48 years passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on February 22, 2012, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Poland and led a distinguished career as a chief accountant for Radmor after obtaining her master’s degree in economics and accounting. Maria bravely immigrated to the United States to reunite with her husband Edward in search of a better life. She learned English and worked tirelessly to send her children to college for a better life. It was difficult to start over in a new country at the age of 44. She worked for Sylvania on Loring Ave for 7yrs alongside her husband Edward and more recently Signal Technologies for 15yrs. She had just retired in 2011. She was very proud that she was able to purchase her first home in 1986 and it was always a happy place filled with her spirit of love and warmth.
Maria loved her family life and hosted family dinner every Sunday at her home. Her son and daughter would bring her grandchildren and she made dinner and cookies for all. She was always offering help to anyone that needed her. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in her world and took them on all sorts of adventures to museums, family vacations and The Forest River Park to swim. They were an incredible joy to her.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son Pawel J. Burkacki and his wife Kristin Bouchard of Beverly, her daughter Monika Mroczkowski and her husband Tomasz of Hopkinton, four grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Katie and Cameron, She also leaves one brother Andrzej Blaszkiewicz and two sisters Teresa Dudek, Barbara Borska all from Poland.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10 am at the St. John the Baptist Church, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Arrangements are by the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
