WOODSTOCK, CT – Catherine S. (Novak) Bonnette, 82 of Woodstock, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Overlook Masonic Home after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Bonnette.
She leaves 6 sons, Lawrence Bonnette and his wife Nancy, Daniel Bonnette and his wife Patricia, James Bonnette and his wife Barbara, Paul Bonnette and his wife Jean, Joseph Bonnette, and Robert Bonnette and his wife Cheri; 4 daughters, Clare Casey and her husband Michael, Christine Bonnette, Cecile Spenard and her husband Bryan, and Marie Bonnette; a brother, William Novak; a sister, Ceil Sinclair; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn Paquette in 1970.
She was born in Darby, PA and raised in Philadelphia, the daughter of Stanley and Sophie (Macanowicz) Novak. She lived in Webster, MA before moving to Woodstock. She graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls’ High School in 1947.
Mrs. Bonnette was an expert seamstress. She first made custom drapes for Chateau Decorating in Webster and later made alterations for Kouri’s Dept. Store in Webster. She then worked at Cranston Print Works Company for many years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991. In her retirement she enjoyed many arts and crafts activities and was especially skilled at oil painting and needlework.
Mrs. Bonnette will be remembered for her strength and compassion, her hilarious sense humor and her smile that made everyone with her feel special. Her true joy was her family and she will be remembered for her loving devotion to them.
The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation for the loving and dedicated care provided to their mother by the nurse practitioner, doctor and staff of the Overlook Masonic Center.
Mrs. Bonnette donated her body to Tufts University Medical School for biomedical research. A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in her name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 306 Industrial Park Road, Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, MA.
