Barbara Jean (Tootsie) Brantley, age 65, of Douglas, GA passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at home following an extended illness. Mrs. Brantley was born on July 18, 1946, in Duval County, FL to the late Margaret Bird and Elisha Young, Sr. She was raised by the late Melvin (Geech) and Eliza (Sis) Harper.
Survivors include: her stepmother, Recy Young, of Douglas, GA.; three daughters, Wanda (John) Bryant, of Axson, GA, Cindy (Tommy) Bailey, of Douglas, GA. and Valisa Young, of Douglas, GA.; three sisters, Venita Luke, of Ambrose, GA, Virgina Pearce, of Douglas, GA, and Sue Carol Batten, of Owensburg, KY.; two brothers, Melvin Harper, Sr., of Waycross, GA and Elisha Young, Jr., of Douglas, GA; eight grandchildren, Jason Odum, Michael Odum, Paula (Brent) Higgins, Matthew Bailey, Eric William, Jesse Williams, all of Douglas, GA., Summer (Forest) Lastinger, of Axson, GA., and Kasey Sears, of Douglas, GA.; eight great grandkids four boys and four girls. She was preceded, in death by one brother George Earl Young, of Douglas, GA., one sister Hazel Hester.
Visitation will be held on February 21, 2012 from 6-9 PM.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Paulk officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Church Cemetery. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
