Miss Charlotte A. Spera, 65 of Medford and South Yarmouth passed away on February 18, following a long and courageous battle with Melanoma.
Born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Alphonse and Frances (Castagno) Spera, she remained a lifelong Medford Resident. She is a graduate of Boston College and Northeastern University.
Charlotte was an educator, she worked for the Revere Public School System for more than 39 years until her retirement. She loved children and dedicated her life to educating kids. She loved to travel, play golf, cross country ski, play pickelball, dance, sing, read, garden and she also played both the piano and organ. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society (Alpha Lots Chapter) the Educators Retiree Club of Florida. Charlotte also worked as a tour guide for Pitcairn Tours. She put her musical talent to work as the organist and choir director of the former Sacred Heart Parish of Medford for many years. She leaves her loving sister and best friend, Barbara A. Spera of Medford. She is the beloved niece of Eleanor Iannazzi of Waltham, Marie Vesprini of Everett, Ralph and Lois Castagno of Belmont. She will be sadly missed by her cousins, Alphonse Castagno Jr. of Belmont, Francine and Richard McCarthy of Norfolk, Joseph Castagno III of Westford, Carol and Steve D’Eon of West Yarmouth, Patricia and Rhys Ralston of Daytona Beach, Ronald and Linda Iannazzi of Watertown, Ralph and Lynne Castagno Jr. of Tyngsboro, Michael and Doris Castagno of Aurora CO., Donna Vesprini of Everett and Sandra Rhone of Belmont. Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main Street Medford on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street Medford at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Contributions in Charlotte’s name may be sent to a charity that was near and dear to her heart, Reid’s Ride.
