Anthony D.Matteo, 51, was stricken at home and passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Tony was a special person and brought much happiness to all who knew him. He is the beloved son of Ernest L. and Antonetta ( Bucci ) Matteo of Smithfield.
Tony grew up in Smithfield and had most recently lived in Coventry and Lincoln. He was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels. He enjoyed going to the movies and spending time with his family. Tony taught people patience and compassion and never complained about the challenges that came his way.
Besides his devoted parents he is survived by his sisters Donna M. Olson and her husband, Richard, and Carol A. Abruzzi and her husband, David, his loving niece and nephew: Elizabeth Abruzzi and Andrew Olson, his cousins, his Spurwink family and many friends.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 4-7pm.
