Joseph D. Desjardins 76, of Grandview Ave died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Rita (Desaulniers) Desjardins. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Raymond and Colombie (St. Louis) Desjardins. Joseph was employed by the former Tupperware Co. for over thirty years, retiring in 1986 as a supervisor. After his retirement he worked part time as a handyman for Family Resources. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post # 306, the American Legion in Cumberland, the Korean War Veterans Association in Pawtucket, and a member and trustee of the FOPA. Joe and his wife Rita loved spending time in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his step children, George Conklin of Whitsett, NC, Marcel Champagne of Suffield, CT, Richard Champagne of Camden, CT and Tara Gonsalves of Lincoln, nine grandchildren, In-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as many beloved friends, especially Mike and Donna Cousineau.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting Hours will be held Monday 4-7 PM.
