Obituary

Gladys Delgado was born March 21, 1926 to the late Walter and Josephine Batiste in Boyce, Louisiana. On February 10, 1955; Gladys was united in marriage to Pedro Delgado. Out of this union, Gladys and Pedro had two children, Raphaela Charlena and Pedro Guadalupe. Gladys was a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was lovingly called “Gigi” by her great-grandchildren.

Ms. Gladys Delgado gave her life to Jesus at an early age and she rededicated her life to assure her election at a later age. She was dedicated and faithful in serving her Church, St. Dominic’s in Detroit, Michigan. Ms. Delgado worked diligently and faithfully in the Catholic Church for the Dominican Priest as a Housekeeper for 34 years. This job gave her the ability to provide for her two young children when she became a single parent. She was always admired of people for being able to provide for two children on a menial income, however, she always gave glory to the Lord knowing that He provided for her every need, and as a result she was a good steward over that which was provided, by not owing any man anything but love and she gave that abundantly. She was never in debt and never had a credit card.

After retiring she moved to Nolensville, Tennessee in 2005 Upon moving to Tennessee, she joined Word of Faith Christian Center-Nashville, Pastored by her son by marriage, Henry Coles, Jr. who she loved to hear and watch teach and preach the Word of God. She would always let him know by saying, “Henry, that was a good message”. She would always ask questions, so that she could fully understand the Word of God. Ms. Delgado served at Faith Christian Academy as a “Grandma Assistant”, where she volunteered in serving the children by keeping the cafeteria clean for the lunch and snack time until she was stricken with illness from a stroke.

On Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12:45 am, she graduated from this world and made her transition to heaven to live eternally with our Heavenly Father.

Preceding her in death were her sisters, Mary Miles, Robena Green, Emma Jefferson, Almina Thomas, Fannie Jordan, and brother Thomas Batiste, and a grandson, Henry Coles, III.
