Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Dana Philip Blake, Jr., age 69, husband of Deborah M. Blake died peacefully Friday, February 17, 2012, at their home.
Born in Boston on July 13, 1942, he was the son of Dana P. and Marion (Waldron) Blake and was a longtime resident of Wenham before moving to Gloucester in 1997. He was a graduate of Boro Hall Academy, New York and the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL where he was the Vice President of his fraternity (Sigma Phi Epsilon) as well as the Intra-Fraternity Council. A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1967 to 1969.
He had a long and successful career in the field of investment management primarily at State Street Bank & Trust in Boston and in 2002 became a partner with the investment management firm of Lighthouse Asset Management.
Dana had many passions including golf, tennis, sailing and travelling the globe with his wife. In addition, he relished his long conversations with friends on just about any subject especially history. He was a loyal and faithful friend to many and will be missed.
Dana enjoyed membership in many clubs; Essex County Club, Singing Beach Club, Eastern Point Yacht Club, the Downtown Harvard Club and in Florida the Mountain Lake Club and the Moorings County Club, Naples, which kept him happily engaged and active during his life.
In addition to Deborah, his loving wife of 43 years, Dana is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25th at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 48 Middle Street, Gloucester (with parking at 35 Washington Street)at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
