LONDONDERRY, NH – Rita M. (Buote) Scanlon, 71 died Thursday February 16, 2012 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH.
Born and educated in Lawrence, MA, daughter of John and Celina (Myers) Buote, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and attended Sacred Heart Church prior to its closing. For 28 years Rita was a secretary for the City of Lawrence School Department. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling to Foxwoods, shopping and spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren.
Rita is survived by her children; Kim A. Kater and Bob Cavanaugh of Londonderry, NH, Bryan P. Scanlon and his wife Irene of Derry, NH, Daniel E. Scanlon and his wife Joan also of Derry, NH and Colin L. Scanlon and his wife Cara of Andover, MA.
Two sisters Irene Somma and husband William and Edna Houde both of Lawrence, MA; sister-in-law Pauline Buote of Salem, NH.
Grandchildren Derek Scanlon, Michael Fetter, Bryan and Daniel “D.J.” Scanlon, Colin and Jen Cavanaugh.
Several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church in Lawrence with burial to follow in the Bellevue Cemetery also in Lawrence, MA.
