Susan R. ( Conway ) Spring of Stoughton, formerly of Hanson, a retired Master Sergeant /Combat Medic in the United States Army Reserves and L.P.N. passed away on Sunday February 12,2012.She was 49 years old. She was the loving mother of Adam Spring and his wife Jennie of Fort Bragg, NC, Christopher Spring of Fort Benning,GA, Travis Spring of Fort Riley, KS and Kaylyn Spring of Hubbardston,MA.Other survivors include her four sisters, Donna Landis and her husband Richard of Hanson, Marie Real and her husband Sean of Hanson, Lori Conway of Hanson, Sheri Erickson and her husband Anders of Sandwich, her five brothers, Peter Conway of Hanson, David Conway of Abington, Donald Conway of San Mateo, CA, Mathew Conway and his wife Kim of Weymouth, Dennis Conway of Hanson, her former husband and good friend Gerald Spring of Hubbardston,MA and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Sue was also a sister to the late Paul Conway and James Conway.
Born on July 15, 1962 in Brockton,Massachusetts, Susan was a daughter to the late Donald and Ann ( Smith ) Conway. She was raised and educated in Hanson, MA. She attended and was a 1980 Graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. Sue joined the United States Army Reserves in 1982 at the age of twenty and quickly attained the rank of First Sergeant. She was then mobilized to Fort Devens, MA and Fort Knox,KY and soon thereafter was deployed to Kosovo in 2001’ and Afghanistan in 2008’. MSG. Spring was the proud recipient of several medals and awards while serving her country overseas. These included being the 2 time recipient of the Army Accomodation Medal, the 2 time recipient of the Army Achievement Medal,the 4 time recipient of the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the 2 time recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star and the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal.
Sue was also able to obtain her Nursing License in 1997. She was employed as a LPN by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office for over ten years . In 2008’she moved to her current place of employment with the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office in Dedham,MA.
All funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Bellfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FLA 32256 in Susan’s memory would be appreciated.
