Mary C. (Correia) Marshall, 83, of New Bedford died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Ellis Marshall and the mother of the late Jane M. Marshall.
Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of Joseph E. and Mary G. (Souza) Correia, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. James Church where she served as an Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and CCD teacher, and was a member of the Ladies Guild.
Mrs. Marshall was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in the accounting department for 35 years until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Portuguese-American Civic League at the local and state levels.
Survivors include her nieces, Ann Cormier Mickells, Margaret Sewares Prestwich, Phyllis Currier; her nephews, Stephen F. Currier, Joseph E. Correia III, and Michael J. Correia; her godson, Kevin Hayes; her sister-in-law, Mary "Renie" Correia of Dartmouth; and her dear friends Lisete and Gus Almeida of New Bedford.
She was the sister of the late Edmund F. Currier, Matilda Sewares Medeiros, Lenora A. Cormier, and Joseph E. Correia, Jr.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday March 7, 2012 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday 9-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
