Kathleen “Granny Kay” Moya, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 19 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Clayton Dowd and the Rev. Michael H. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moya was born October 27, 1920 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Sid Perkins and the late Eva Spencer Moore. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Howell Moore. Mrs. Moya moved to Fitzgerald in 1975 from Baldwin Park, California. She worked for a cotton mill in Gastonia, NC and for Doremeyer Appliance Corporation in Chicago. Mrs. Moya was former owner/operator of Kay’s Flea Market in Ocilla. She loved her pastor and her church and was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, John (Linda) Tabor of Fitzgerald, James Tabor of Highland, CA and Maran (Jimmy) Long of Fitzgerald; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchild and a brother, Dennis (Esther) Moore of Gastonia, NC. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Tabor and Raymond Moya, two daughters, Martha Ann Turner and Janice Day.
