Teresa “Terry” M. (LaCroix) Santry, 83 years, of Taunton formerly of Brockton, died February 15, 2012 at the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Cornelius “Neil” B. Santry. She was born in Vermont, the daughter of the late Chester G. and Veronica E. (Dempsey) LaCroix. Terry graduated from Brighton High School Class of 1947 and had been a Brockton resident for over 50 years. Terry was a homemaker from 1952 to 1974 actively assisting her husband with IBEW Local 223 Union responsbilities in his role as business manager of the electrical union. In 1975, she joined the Southeastern Massachusetts Chapter of the American Red Cross and in 1981 she received her license of Social Work. She began her career as a bookkeeper and was promoted to Office Manager at the Red Cross until her retirement in 1991. Thereafter she worked for the Brockton School Department performing hearing and vision screenings for school children of all ages until her retirement in 2004.
Terry also volunteered as a Nursing Home Ombudsman for the Old Colony Planning Council for many years. She was an active participant at St. Patrick's Church in Brockton where she chaired many committees and fundraising events in support of both the Parish and St. Patrick's School while raising her five children. Terry enjoyed all aspects of life, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family, extended family and friends. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren and had enjoyed Summers in Onset and Popponesset. Terry will be remembered for her passionate helping of others in need whether with meals, errands or other tasks.
Terry is survived by her children Nancy E. Finnell and her husband John of Brockton; Stephen B. Santry of Brockton; Diane M. Sullivan and her husband Jim of Taunton with whom she recently made her home; Daniel F. Santry and his wife Sandra of Brockton and Maryteresa Crealese and her husband Charles of Bridgewater; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the sister of Joseph LaCroix of Shawnee, OK; Patricia Gaynor of Brockton and the late William LaCroix. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-8pm. A Funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30am followed by a funeral mass at 11am in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 580 Monponsett St., Halifax.
