W. Katherine “Topsy” Pruvot, 82, of Franklin, entered into eternal life peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends on February 13, 2012, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Roland J. Pruvot, who died in 1984.
Born in Milford on March 1, 1929, a daughter of the late Maurice and Winifred (Clewes) Gagne. She was raised in Millis and graduated from Millis High School class of 1946. She attended the Burdett College and moved to Franklin as a new bride in 1949.
Katherine began her years in Franklin as a mother and homemaker. In the early 1960’s she became a kindergarten teacher at Happy Hours. Her devotion to children was evident throughout her life. She could be found singing a special song to each and every child she encountered.
As her own children grew, Katherine took employment at Whiting and Davis as a bookkeeper. In her retirement years she worked as a courier for Sullivan Associates until the age of 76.
Katherine’s hobbies included baking, cake decorating, crossword and word search puzzles. Always the Good Samaritan she volunteered for Meals on Wheels and The Santa Foundation of Franklin. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years and a proud supporter of several Veterans’ organizations. Her kindness and giving nature was seen by friends and strangers alike.
A long time communicant of the parish of St. Mary, she was a woman of strong faith and family beliefs. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her son Richard V. Pruvot.
She is survived by her children; Jan K. Prentice of Franklin, Tommy M. Pruvot of Franklin, and Diane C. Esquibel and her husband Gordon of San Jose, California; and a sister Ann Dmytryck of Pocasset. Also surviving are her grandchildren; David P. Prentice, Jr. and his wife Darla of Medway, Jennifer N. Sims of San Jose, CA, Jarrod R. Esquibel of San Jose, CA, Alyssa K. Esquibel of Las Vegas, Nevada, & great grandchildren; Alyssa Whitaker, Kaitlin Whitaker, Jordan Prentice, James Robinson, and Samantha Robinson & many extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday February 18th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq., at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
