Obituary

Francis E. "Frank" Gentile, age 89, of Lowell and a former longtime resident of Woburn passed away suddenly on February 10th at the Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Elvira O. (Clementi) Gentile and together they shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Frank and Annie (Mele) Gentile.

Frank was raised and educated in Woburn. He was a proud veteran and honorably served as Sergeant with the Army Air Corp during the Second World War, receiving several decorations and commendations for his good conduct while serving in China, North Burma and India. Frank worked as a Chief Court Officer and retired in 1993 as an Administrative Assistant with the Justice Dept at the Woburn District Court following a 28 year career. In his leisure time Frank enjoyed music, playing the piano, sailing and vacationing on Cape Cod with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid New England sports fan. Mostly devoted to his loving family, Frank cherished his time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Elvira. Their children, Gina Pasakaris and her husband Thomas of Woburn, Susan D'Amore and her husband David of Nashua, NH, Francis Gentile and his wife Mary of North Andover. He was the loving grandfather of Thomas and Albert Pasakaris, Nicole and Jessica D'Amore, Courtney, Rachael and Francis Gentile. He is also survived by his brothers, Rudy Gentile of Arlington, Charles Gourlis of Woburn, and sister, Charlotte Best of South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his late parents he is predeceased by his sisters, Josephine Sutton, Josephine Ann Kenney, and Mary Croft.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, February 15th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military Honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
