June T. (Wells) Brenner, a resident of Charlestown and former longtime resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away into eternal life on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a lengthy illness. She was 86 years old.
June was born in Boston on June 24, 1925 to the late Walter and Dorothy (Cooper) Wells. June grew up in Boston's South End and Roxbury attending Boston Public Schools. She worked making walkie-talkies during World War II. June married her sweetheart George H. Brenner on August 7, 1947. From 1952 to 1973 they lived in Medford where June was active in the League of Women Voters, Friends of the Public Library, Fair Housing Committee and the Unitarian-Universalist Church where she ran the religious education program for many years. June and George retired to Bradenton, Florida in 1973 where she continued her public service again working with the LWV, local library and the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. She also taught migrant children before moving to Charlestown to live with her daughter.
June is survived by her daughter Janice I. Brenner of Charlestown.
Funeral Services will be held in Florida at a later date.
