Viola M. Brakes, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Camp Branch Cemetery, Manor, Georgia with Rev. Gerald Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 Friday Evening.
Mrs. Brakes was born October 18, 1915, in Clinch County, Georgia to the late James Daniel and Mollie Smith Griffis. She lived in Fitzgerald since 1995, moving from Ware County, Georgia and was a former resident of Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived for forty-three years. She was a former waitress, was of the Primitive Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing.
Mrs. Brakes is survived by two brothers: N.B. Griffis, Jacksonville, FL and Johnny Pellicer, Waycross; two sisters: Mary Lou Beverly, Baldwin, FL and Marie Sharpe, Texas City, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Brakes.
