Obituary

Edith (Mattaliano) Burditt, a 3 year resident of Wakefield and former 54 year resident of Holbrook, passed away into eternal life on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 following an extended illness. She was 86 years old.

Edith was born in Boston on July 7, 1925 to the late Joseph and Angela (Leone) Mattaliano. She grew up in Hyde Park where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Edith worked as a clerk for more than 25 years at Quincy City Hospital. She also enjoyed traveling.

Edith is the beloved wife of the late Carl B. Burditt. She is the devoted mother of the late Dorothy A. Williams who passed away on May 20, 2011 and her surviving husband Bill Williams of Wakefield. She is the loving "Granda Edie" to Jeanne Caraglia and her husband Joe of Georgetown, John Williams of Wakefield, Julie Paiva and her husband Brian of Wakefield and her 5 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Marie Marenghi of Milton, Barbara Arcuni of Virginia, Anna Moore of Rockland, Joseph Mattaliano of Canton, Rita Aloupis of Stoughton and the late Eleanor Melanson. She is the sister-in-law of George Burditt of Burbank, California. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edith's Funeral on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose/Wakefield line followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m.
