Obituary

Manuel C. "Fireball" Botelho, Jr., 65, of New Bedford died Tuesday March 30, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Jeanette T. (Page) Botelho.

Born and raised in Dartmouth, the son of the late Manuel C. and Mary (Cordeira) Botelho, he had lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School.

Mr. Botelho was formerly employed as a captain of several fishing vessels out of the Port of New Bedford.

He was a member of the New Bedford Fishermen's Union. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Chris M. Botelho and his wife Debra of New Bedford; a stepdaughter, Lynette of Sturbridge; a brother, Edward Botelho of Maine; 2 sisters, Mary Avila of Dartmouth and Hilda Gless of Connecticut; and a grandson, Ross Frates.He was the brother of the late John Botelho.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2004 at 6:30 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours 4-6:30 PM, prior to the Service.
