Obituary

Jamie Quay Walker Samuels, age 82, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born December 20, 1929 in Panola County, MS to the late Jessie James and Mattie Brewer Walker. Quay retired after 30 years of service with Holley Carburator and also worked alongside her husband in their upholstery business. She was a member of Ford's Well Church of Christ for many years and later attended First Christian Church when she moved to Water Valley. Quay loved life and was passionate about her family, gardening, traveling, going to the beach and crocheting. She was one of the wives that followed the original "Generation Gap" group around as they played.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 with Bro. Mike Fondren and Bro. David Freeman officiating. The burial will be in the Ford's Well Cemetery in Oakland, MS with Roy Cobern, Don Johnson, Edward Scanlon, Bilbo Samuels, Jerry Holt, and Billy Jones serving as pallbearers.

Quay is survived by two daughters, Pam Samuels Timmins (Chuck) of Memphis, TN and Sue Samuels Cobern (Troy) of Senatobia, MS; two brothers, Willie D. "Buddy" Walker (Carolyn) of Harlem, GA and Gene Walker (Rose) of Elk Mont, AL; five grandchildren, Heather Grisanti, Shelly Hardwick, Correy Cobern, Whitney Cobern and Beth Samuels; and six great-grandchildren, Jade, Will, Isabella, Zoe, Brady and Ben.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Snow Samuels; a son, Mike Samuels; a sister, AnnaLou Freeman; and a brother, Jimmy Walker.
