ROCHESTER — Helena O. Brown, age 86 years, a Rochester resident of 62 years, passed away peacefully with her family at home on Friday, February 3, 2012. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Brown Jr.
Helena was born December 19, 1925 in Dartmouth, the daughter of William and Carrie Osgood. She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rochester.
A lifelong resident of the town, she was involved with a number of civic organizations. As a member of the Rochester Lions Club, she was presented the "Melvin Jones Fellow" award for dedicated humanitarian services. Helena was also a member of the Rochester Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher H. Brown and his wife, Carol Lynn of Rochester and Lincoln A. Brown and his wife, Sally of Tullahoma, Tennessee; her nephew, Matthew Davis of San Francisco, California; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tyler O. Brown; and her brother, Gardner Osgood.

Visitation will take place on Monday from 4-7 P.M., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. Her service will be Tuesday morning at 11 A.M., at the funeral home followed by burial in Centre Cemetery, Rochester.
