CONTURIE, Roger E., Age 23, of Needham, passed away on January 31. Roger grew up in Needham and graduated from Needham High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University in 2011 with a major in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering.
As a teenager he worked as a lifeguard at Rosemary Pool in Needham and at the Nobles Greenough School in Dedham. Since 2010, he was working as an intern at the Wyss Institute of Harvard University, doing research in bioengineering.
Roger was a very sociable and generous young man. He liked sports, he played guitar, saxophone, and drums, and he enjoyed time with his friends.
Roger was the cherished son of Cynthia and Yves Conturie, of Needham, and brother of Charlotte, of Boston. He was also beloved by his grandparents Russell and Marilyn Casella of Potomac, MD, and Simone Conturie of Paris, France, by his aunt Sheryl Casella of Westboro, MA, and by his extended family in France.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 1305 Highland Ave. (Exit 19B off 128) Tuesday Feb. 7th. at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Needham at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Monday Feb. 6th from 4-8PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
