Barbara A. (Bremner) Burke, age 87, a longtime Natick resident, died on Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2012, at Mary Ann Morse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Upton on January 9, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Walters) Bremner. She moved with her family to Natick as a small child and was graduated with the Natick High School Class of 1943.
Barbara married Edward F. Burke upon his return from the war in 1945, and created a warm and loving home for her new family in Natick. She worked as the secretary to the Principal of Coolidge Junior High School as her sons grew older and was later employed for over 15 years as the secretary of Dr. Steven Frager. A former member of the Natick Firefighters’ Wives Association, Barbara most loved being at home and hosting her family and close friends on various occasions.
Predeceased by her husband in 2003, she is survived by three sons, John M. Burke and wife Karla of Norfolk, Robert E. Burke and wife Patricia of Natick, and Edward W. “Ted” Burke and wife Darlene of Medway; two grandchildren, Kenneth E. and Kelly L. Burke; a sister, Clare Wright of Pembroke Pines, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Carl, William, Paul, and Harold Bremner, and Margaret Connolly.
Her funeral service will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Monday at 1:00P.M. Friends may visit with the family at noon prior to the service. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
