Obituary

Burke, Thomas J. “Uncle Tommy” of Squantum, formerly of Dorchester, passed away January 30, 2012.

Dear son of the late Patrick Burke and Annie (Burke) of Co. Galway . Beloved brother of the late Mary T. (Burke) Monahan and her husband Vinnie Monahan. Devoted uncle of Maryanne White and her husband John of Marshfield, Kathleen Monahan, Tish Fernandez and her husband Gerry, Jane Monahan, John Monahan and his wife Suzanne, Colleen White and her husband Kevin; all of Squantum and the late Eddie and Tommy Monahan. Cherished great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Uncle Tommy lived his life based on three fundamental values; his deep faith, strong family relationships and a close bond to his Irish roots. Thomas served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. An electrical engineer for over thirty years, he retired in 1994 from Boston Edison. Thomas was a daily communicant at Star of the Sea Parish in Squantum and Sacred Heart Parish in N. Quincy. He enjoyed frequent trips to Connemara, Ireland visiting beloved family & friends. His family remembers him for his generosity of spirit, humble nature, and deep religious convictions.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday in Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., N. Quincy at 9 AM.

Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
