MAGUIRE, Lawrence G.C. - Of Wellesley Hills & Rye, NH, passed away January 21, 2012. He was the beloved son of the late Charles D & Mary Z Maguire and loving brother of Suzanne Skolnick and husband Robert of Wellesley Hills and Naples, FL, and Charlene D. Morrissey and late husband Michael of South Natick. Lawrence was born January 5, 1946 and was a graduate of Wellesley High School and Newton Junior College. He was a longtime librarian with the Wellesley Free Library with a career that spanned 41 years from 1962, when he began part-time in high school, until he retired in 2003. He earned the Meritorious Service Award and was the Town of Wellesley’s “Man of the Year” in that year. A connoisseur of the fine arts he was a member of the Wedgwood Society of Boston and Museum of Fine Arts. His interests extended to include gardening, symphony and opera. A renaissance man who appreciated the beauty in the details, he was equally enthusiastic about flea market finds or the simple beauty found in nature. Cherished uncle of 5 nieces and nephews and 10 great-niece and nephews. He leaves behind many close friends and family who will miss his kind heart.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Paul Church, 502 Washington Street, Wellesley, Friday, Feb 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours omitted. A private burial will be at a later date.
