Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Helen L. (Robinson) Doucette, 87, of McPherson Park, died early Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012, in the Addison Gilbert Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Doucette, Jr., who died in February of 1992.
Born in Gloucester on October 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Helen (Knipe) Robinson. A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she had attended St. Ann’s School.
Helen was employed as a laborer along the Gloucester waterfront for several different companies, including the former Empire Fish. She had also worked in the kitchen at Addison Gilbert Hospital and at the former LePages, Inc. for twenty-one years before her retirement in 1988. Helen was a member of St. Ann Church Legion of Mary and had served as a eucharistic minister.
She is survived by a son, Gilbert W. Doucette; daughter, Linda A. Silva, companion of Daniel Reed; her daughter Joyce’s longtime companion, William Thompson; six grandchildren, Darcie and Darice Doucette, Terry Jones, Robin Collins, Benjamin Jones and Amanda Silva; five great-grandchildren, Nathan and Hannah Collins, Mya Doucette, Mariah Gauthier and Neveah Moody and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jeanette Worthley. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Joyce T. Jones; grandson, Derek Doucette, sisters, Rachael, Florence, Mary and Dorothy; and a brother, Frank.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
