SALEM- Krystyna J. (Ozimek) Czapla, 80, of Salem, wife of the late Jan Czapla, died Sunday morning, March 28, 2004 in the Salem Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Wladyslawa (Fabuszewska) Ozimek.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by GTE Sylvania on Boston Street, Salem, from the mid 1960's until its closing in 1980. She previously worked at Unitrode in Salem.
Mrs. Czapla has been a resident of Salem since coming to the United States in 1961. Since that time, she has been a parishioner of the St John The Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Patricia Czapla of Pickerington, Ohio, two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and Phil Durkin of West Newbury, Jane and Barry DeNofrio of Boxford, seven grandchildren, Rachel Durkin, Patrick Durkin, Ryan Durkin, all of West Newbury, Jan DeNofrio of Chapel Hill, N. Carolina, Jonathan Czapla, Laura Czapla, both of Pickerington, Ohio, Krista DeNofrio of Boxford, one sister, Elzbieta Koprowska of Poland, one cousin Josephine Kurkowska of Peabody and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
