Shrewsbury - Robert M. Midgley, 87, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Shirley M. (Anderson) Midgley and two daughters Wendy R. Midgley of Sutton and Lucinda L. Midgley of Lee. He is also survived by a sister Susan B. Pearson, sister-in-law Ruby Woodworth, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Robert was born in Worcester, son of Florence (Millett) and Frederick Midgley. He was a graduate of Commerce High and UMass and served in the Navy during WWII. Bob worked for many years at John Bath Company. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Shrewsbury. He was a very friendly man with a great sense of humor and had a zest for life. Some of his hobbies were growing tomatoes and flowers, listening to music and singing, and bird-watching. Bob loved the water - Sunset Beach on Lake Quinsigamond, Cape Cod at Thumpertown Beach, Eastham, York Beach, and Daytona Beach Shores. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Friday, Feb. 3. A calling hour will be held at 11 am followed by the service at 12 Noon. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Flowers may be sent or donations made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation 811 W Evergreen Ave., Suite 204, Chicago IL 60642-2642.
