WEBSTER - Theresa J. “Terry” (Zdrok) Miller, 81, of Webster died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Her husband of 57 years Felix E. “Soapy” Miller, died in 2009.
She leaves 3 daughters, Patricia A. Mangen of Dudley, Cynthia F. Gardner of Webster and Elaine M. Miller of Montgomery, IL; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Zdrok of Vero Beach, FL; 2 sisters, Jennie Rzeszutko of Webster and Sister Mary Amandine with the Felician Sisters in North Adams; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Zdrok.
She was born in Webster, a daughter of Zigmont and Frances (Piasta) Zdrok and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1948 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Becker Junior College and Quinsigamond Community College.
Mrs. Miller was the manager of customer service and accounts receivable for Schott Fiber Optics in Southbridge before retiring in 1992. In her retirement, she volunteered as administrative secretary at Saint Joseph Basilica for almost 20 years.
She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica. Active in many phases of parish life, she sang as an alto in the choir. She was a past president of the Holy Rosary Sodality and a past vice-president of both the Sacred Heart Society and the Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Saint Anne Society. She served on the parish council and also chaired the parish festival for many years. She was instrumental in the planning and execution of the renovation of the Saint Joseph Basilica. She was an active member of the John Paul II Foundation of New England and received the Pro Ecclesia and Pontifice Award from Pope John Paul II in 2001. She also served as vice president of the Polish American Veterans Auxiliary.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 1, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a concelebrated Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, in the funeral home.
