Obituary

FRANKLIN—Helen (Baghdjian) Boghosian 108, of Franklin, died peacefully, Sunday January 29, 2012 at her home, following a brief illness surrounded by loving friends and family members during her final days and hours. She was the wife of the late Levon Boghosian, who died in 1977.
Born on January 25th, 1904 in Adana, Turkey, she was the daughter of the late Manoug and Rachel (Domboorian) Baghdjian. She was a survivor of the Armenian Genocide in 1915 and could never forget the cruel hardships her family endured under Turkish rule. She was married in 1921 in Adana, Turkey, came to the United States in July 1922 and lived in Franklin since 1941. She and her husband lived on West Central Street where they owned and operated a poultry farm for over 25 years. She was highly skilled in various forms of needlework, cultivated a variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers, and was an excellent cook-specializing in Armenian cuisine.
In May of 2007, she was the recipient of the Boston Post Cane award- as the oldest resident of the Town of Franklin, at the age of 103. Mrs. Boghosian was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church from 1941 until 2007, and then became a faithful member of the newly-formed Anglican Church of the Redeemer in January of 2008.
She is survived by one daughter, Nora Minnichelli and her husband Anthony of Franklin; two grandsons, Mark and his wife Jennifer of Califon, NJ and Robert and his wife Debbie of Redondo Beach, CA. She has three great-grandchildren; Laura, Dave and Joey. She is also survived by her grandniece Jasmine Dodakian and her husband John of Franklin.
She was the sister of the late Hagop, Aram, and Apkar Baghdjian and Verkin Mangaldjian, Mary Yazdanian and Eugenie Casarjian.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday February 2nd, at 11AM in the Anglican Church of the Redeemer 31 Hayward St. Franklin, with Rev. Jack Potter, Rector officiating.
Burial will follow in the family lot at Union Street Cemetery.
Calling hours are Thursday 9:30-10:30AM at the church.
