Obituary

MILLBURY-Robert D. Sheeran, Sr., 67, of Millbury died Sunday, January 29th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Gertrude M. (James) Sheeran; a son, Robert D. Sheeran, Jr. of Millbury; a daughter, Kimberly Anne Sheeran and her partner, Steven Walker of Worcester; a brother, Kenneth Sheeran of Punta Gorda, FL; a sister, Norma Jones of Rutland; three grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob and Sara and several nieces and nephews. A brother, John Sheeran predeceased him.
Mr. Sheeran was born in Worcester the son of John and Esther (Walcott) Sheeran and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade. Robert was a cabinet maker at R.J. Shakour for over 40 years. He loved to go hunting and fishing with his son, brother in law and nephews. Robert loved sports especially hockey and took his grandson to every practice and game. He coached for many years with Lou Gehrig Little League baseball and softball and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Robert’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus for their kindness and support, especially Dr. Whalen and his team for their compassion and care during Robert’s illness.
The funeral is Thursday, February 2nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 1st from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
