Mrs. Josephine C. Summa, 94 of Stoneham, formerly of Medford and Boston’s North End died Sunday in the Medford Extended Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Frank Summa. Born in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late Samuel and Maria (Imprescia) Costa. She was raised in the North End and attended local schools there. She and her family moved to Medford in 1956 and later to Stoneham in 1985. In earlier years she worked as a seamstress producing fancy stitching for clothing manufacturers in the garment industry. In her younger days she enjoyed dancing. She was fond of traveling and especially enjoyed Florida. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and a woman who loved to entertain. She particularly enjoyed family gatherings and delighted in the company of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Forlizzi and her husband Peter of Medford, a son, Frank Summa and his wife Linda of Methuen. She is the loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Tony and Domenic Costa, Lena Russo, Anna Marotta, Connie Consolo and Rose Vecchia. She is the sister in law of Ann Antonino and Terry Sirignano of Boston’s North End. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford on Thursday at 9 AM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. Interment will follow on Thursday in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
