Elizabeth “Betty” M. Mellor, 85, former resident of Natick, Massachusetts passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012.
Daughter of the late Annie (Sullivan) Carey and Christopher James Carey, Elizabeth was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts with her five brothers; John, Bernard, Francis, George and Christopher and her two sisters; Margaret and Kathleen. Growing up during World War II Elizabeth left high school prior to graduating to help support her family while her brothers were away at war. At the age of 47 she fulfilled her lifelong goals of earning her High School Diploma (GED) and obtaining her license to drive. Elizabeth had worked as a Telephone Operator for New England Telephone Company prior to starting a family and returned again after her youngest child entered school. She retired from New England Telephone in 1992 with 20 years of service.
Her late husband, Richard N. Mellor, passed away in 1990. Her daughter, Elizabeth “Bette” Bryant, passed away in April, 2008. Elizabeth is survived by her four remaining children, Michele Diamond of Marlborough, MA, Richard Mellor of Boston, MA, Alfred Mellor of Natick, MA and Judy Mangold of Valrico, FL, and leaves behind her beloved thirteen Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.
A wake will be held for Elizabeth at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, (at Natick Common) Natick, MA 01760, (508) 653-4342 on Monday the 30th of January from 4 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 44 East Central St. Natick on Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
