Frederick F. Mele, 78 years old, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, died Monday, January 23, 2012 with his loving family by his side. Born in Lawrence, the son of the late John and Anna (Laratonda) Mele, he was predeceased by his 13 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Mele was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and serves in the United States Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant with the 85th Airport Squadron for a total of 38 years, 4 years active duty, and 34 years as a Reservist. He worked at Raytheon and then as a Senior Buyer for RCA and General Electric for a total of 30 years until his retirement.
It was his Military Service that brought him to England where he met his wife Barbara; they have shared nearly 57 years together. His greatest pleasure was his family, especially his role as Papa; he was always very active in his children's and grandchildren's lives, whether it was a lazy weekend at the Camp, a family vacation in Aruba, or one of the many activities with his grandchildren. We will all miss him very much. His quick wit and dry sense of humor were always enjoyed by those around him. In addition to his wife Barbara, he leaves behind his daughter Linda Mulligan, son in law Terence Mulligan and his grandson Jake Costello all of Raymond, NH; his son David Mele and his girlfriend Pierrette Chunilal (PC) both of Lawrence, his granddaughter Alexandria Mele of San Diego, California and his grandson David (Shorty) Mele and his Fiancé Brendalyn Drews both of Lawrence. Mr. Mele also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA. A Funeral service will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
