Fall River – Mary B. (Souza) Carvalho, 89, widow of the late Manuel Carvalho, of O Drive, Westport, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Catholic Memorial Home, after a brief illness.
Born in Fall River the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Almeida) Souza, she had lived in Westport for the past 53 years. Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator for Shelburn Shirt Company in Fall River and also worked in retail for Darwood Manufacturing Company in Fall River.
Mrs. Carvalho was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport and also a member of the Our Lady of Grace Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by 2 sons: Manuel Carvalho, Jr. and his wife Betty Anne of Westport and Richard D. Carvalho and his wife Janice of Westport; 2 daughters: Evelyn Cambra and her husband James of Westport and Pauline Furtado and her husband Joseph of Kissimee, FL; 4 brothers: Louis B. Souza of Harmony, ME, John B. Souza of Westport, David B. Souza of St. Johnsville, NY and Daniel B. Souza of Westport; 2 sisters: Laura Reyckert of Westport and Glory B. Santos of Dartmouth; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Joseph Souza, Antone Souza, Frank Souza and Manuel B. Souza.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Tuesday 5-8 P.M.
Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
