Obituary

FRANKLIN—A. Ruth (Roissing) Compton 95, of Franklin, died peacefully, Monday January 23, 2012 at the Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Fred B. Compton who died in 2001.
Born July 28, 1916, in Boston, a daughter of the late Peter A. & Alice T. (Sylverson) Compton she was a resident of Franklin for many years and was a former resident of Needham.
She was raised and educated in Needham, and until her retirement several years ago, she was the owner and operator of the former Copper & Pine Antique Shop on Rt. 140 in Franklin.
Mrs. Compton, along with her late husband were world travelers, she was a member of the Federated Church of Franklin, and a member of the Alden Club. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Alice R. McKenna of Stonington, Maine, and Sally B. Compton of South Dennis, MA, 3 sisters; Bunny Rich of Sherborn, Helene Gerardo of New Hartford, CT, and Terry Macbeth of Windsor, CT. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Bertha Harris, Grace MacMillan, Lorna Gilmore and Norman Roissing.
Her funeral service and interment will be held privately.
