Joseph S. Moore, a long-time Medford resident died peacefully at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 79.
Joe was born and raised in Dunkirk, NY, the son of the late Joseph Moore and the late Pauline Mary Bussberg and stepson of the late Sergeant Major Robert Bussberg. Joseph served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After the war he settled in Medford where he and his wife Gloria raised their three children. Joe enjoyed a 35-year career as a supervisor with Western Electric (now Lucent). A devoted and wonderful husband and father, Joe was particularly devoted to his grandchildren. A loyal and fun man to be with, he was a member of the former Medford Council of the Knights of Columbus # 141, The American Legion of Medford and the Tin Can Sailors Association.
The beloved husband of Gloria (Mazza), Moore he was a devoted father to Joanne Trickett of NC, James Moore, Sr and his wife Maria of Peabody, Gloria Wilson and her husband Robert of TX. He was a loving grandfather to James Jr, Danielle, Jessica, Jennifer, Sean and a loving great-grandfather to James III. He was the dear brother of Betty DePasquale of NY, the late Richard Moore and Jim Bitonti.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, January 31 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Monday 4 thru 8.
