GLOUCESTER: Kenneth R. Miles, 70, of Langsford Street, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Den-Mar Nursing & Rehabilation Center, Rockport, following an extended illness. He was the husband of Valentia Anne (Cadby) Miles.
Born in St. Albans, England on July 1, 1941, he was the son of the late Richard W. and Doris (Patten) Miles.
A resident of the United States since 1968, Kenneth served in the U.S. Army Reserve, 10th Special Forces for twenty years. In addition, he worked for the Christian Science Monitor Publishing House as manager of the IT Department for thirty years, retiring in 2000.
Kenneth was an active outdoorsman and loved walking, swimming, sailing and kayaking. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife of forty-six years, he is survived by two daughters, Lesley and Emma Miles; son; Paul Miles; grandson, Nicholas Miles; two brothers, Royston and Christopher Miles; a sister, Kay Vincent and many nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4th in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1123 Washington Street, Lanesville at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
