Obituary

Edward J. Callow, age 92, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died January 22, 2012 at West Acres Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Beatrice M. (Ippolito) Callow for 54 years. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late James T. and Marie (Sutherland) Callow. He was a World War II Veteran who served in Europe with the Army Tank Corps. For 32 years he had been employed as a Correctional Officer at the MCI in Bridgewater. He played football, baseball and hockey with Taunton Lumber and BAA. For years he coached Little League, Pony League, Colt League, Midget football and Hockey.

He is survived by his children Edward J. Callow, Jr. and Kathryn M. Pike both of E. Bridgewater; Linda M. Higgins, James T. II, and Thomas M. Callow all of Bridgewater and Lori A. Guibor of Campbell, CA; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald and Lorne Callow and Katherine Douglas.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-7pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home Saturday at 9am for a funeral mass in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
