METHUEN – Hector J. Cote, 91, retired Massachusetts State Police Officer, died unexpectedly Saturday January 21, 2012 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Hector N. and Stephanie (Carels) Cote. Educated in Methuen, he graduated from the Edward F. Searles High School with the Class of 1939. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged. He was a Massachusetts State Trooper and served throughout the Commonwealth. Before retiring, Hector was also the Vice President of security for the former Bay Bank.
An attendant of St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen, he was a member of the Methuen Knights of Columbus and the Former Massachusetts State Troopers Association.
He leaves his wife Lucia A. (Reycroft Curll) Cote of Methuen, MA and his children Valerie Mugavero of North Andover, MA, Jana Cote of Denver, CO, William Cote and his wife Sharon of Kingston, NH and Cheryle Smith and her husband Joseph, also of Denver, CO. Lee Curll, Jr., Lawrence Curll, and Janine Campanella.
Grandchildren Lisa, Dana and Jennifer Mugavero, Jeffrey and Michael Cote, Ryan, Jonathan, Matthew and Danielle and Kastiana Curll, Joseph and Sam Campanella.
Several nieces and nephews.
Hector was predeceased by his first wife Ann (Fedorchuk) Cote.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00a.m. in St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen, with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
