Theresa Lydia (Spoor) Grime, 77, born February 11, 1934, peacefully passed away at Hathaway Manor, surrounded by her loved ones, on Monday, January 23, 2012. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who became the solid foundation for her tight knit family. Her love of God and pride in her family were always at the forefront of her life.
Terry, the daughter of the late Archibald and Adrienne (Breault) Spoor, was a lifetime resident of New Bedford. For almost twenty five years she worked as a hairdresser in the family business, Archie’s Parkside Beauty Shoppe.
She met the one true love of her life, the late, Robert Merle Grime, married him on Valentine’s Day 1952, and raised three children. After the death of her young husband in 1977, Terry went to work at St. Luke’s Hospital in food services and then the gift shop, where she continued to volunteer until after her retirement in 2000.
She is survived by her two daughters, Claudia Sampson and Deborah Daigle, and her son-in-law Robert Daigle. She leaves her mark on the lives of two sisters, Cecile Comeau and Constance Fernandes; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Grime, sister and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, and many friends, especially those who shared breakfast with her every morning for over ten years.
Memere, as she was known to all her “kids” was devoted to being a large part in raising three generations of family. She will remain a wonderful memory in the lives of her seven grandchildren, Sarah, Gillian, Stephen, Ianthe, Joshua, Jessica, and Hector. She will forever be the guardian angel for her fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of the late Robert Grime Jr. and the sister of the late Rita Antonsen, Jeannette Casemiro, Lucille Southworth and Archibald Spoor, Jr.
Visiting hours Thursday, January 26th from 9 - 11 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
