WORCESTER – Mr. Joseph E. Monfreda, 86, passed away at the Life Care Center of Auburn on Saturday January 21st.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Mary (Karakashian) Monfreda of Worcester; two sons, Gary Monfreda and his wife Michelle of Paxton, Victor Monfreda of Worcester; two daughters, Joanne Perry and her husband Robert , Laura Reynolds and her husband John all of Cherry Valley; a sister, Raphaela Plante of Westborough; eleven grandchildren, Corey, Branden, Angela, Anthony, Michael, Nicholas Monfreda, Jason and Lauren Perry, Ryan, Meaghan, and Kaylin Reynolds; and a great granddaughter, Sydney Monfreda.
Joe was pre-deceased by his siblings, Frank, Amando, Mary Croteau, and Christine Cowden.
Joe was born October 29, 1925 in Worcester, Massachusetts a son of the late Vitaliano and Ersilia (Belcufine) Monfreda.
A lifelong resident of Worcester, Joe joined the service at seventeen serving in the Marines at Iwo Jima during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the States and opened J.E. Monfreda General Contracting. He operated his business for over fifty years, retiring in 2009.
Joe loved to golf, play pool, and play cribbage. He enjoyed being with his loving family and good friends.

His funeral will be held Wednesday January 25th from FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester with a Prayer Service at 12:00 Noon. Visiting hours will be at the Funeral Home, Wednesday morning from 9:00am to 12:00 Noon.
