Holden - Ethel E. (Danielson) Backstrom, 91, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at home. Her husband of 50 years, Henry A. Backstrom, predeceased her in 1990. Ethel leaves one daughter, Jean Brunter, widow of the late John Brunter of NY; two grandsons, Ted Brunter of FL and Randy Brunter and his wife, Patricia, of CA; five great-grandchildren, Steven, Eric, Rebecca, Katrina, and Jessica; and one great-great-granddaughter, Mayanna. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ragnar and Eskel Danielson, and two sisters, Ruth Kemp and Evelyn Carlson.
Ethel was born in Auburn, daughter of John F. and Anna (Swenson) Danielson. She was a member of the Senior Citizen's Group of Holden. Ethel enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She mowed her own lawn until she was in her late 80's. She also enjoyed shopping, and she took great pride in her style and appearance.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, January 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel's name may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.
