Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Margaret A. “Margie” (Keyes) Stanton, 84, died at her home Thursday morning, January 19, 2012 surrounded by her family, friends and pets. She was the wife of the late Richard T. Stanton, who died in December of 1994.
Born in Gloucester on May 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Henry R. and Jennie L. (Eaton) Keyes. She was a lifelong resident and attended Gloucester public schools.
Margie was employed as a housekeeper for the late Ambassador Walworth Barbour for many years. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria-Jean and Douglass H. Parsons, Suzanne and Richard Walker; a granddaughter, Amy-Beth, wife of Jason Healey; three great-granddaughters, Mikayla, Genevieve and Marion Healey; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Keyes and Grace Munroe; two brothers-in-law, Ralph, husband of Grace Stanton and James Stanton all of Gloucester; a half-sister, Janet, wife of John Kendricks of Canton, OH and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Mary Thibedeau, Bessie Stillman and Gladys Sawler; and two brothers, Howard and Henry Keyes.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the C.A. Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930, the Feline Rescue of Cape Ann, P. O. Box 1521, Gloucester, MA 01930 or the VNA Care Network and Hospice, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923.
