Obituary

Mr. John Paul Steele, Jr. a resident of Peabody for more than 30 years and formerly of Salem and Medford, died at his home on January 17, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was 69 years old.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on September 23, 1942, he was the beloved son of Mary L. (Kelley) and the late John P. Steele, Sr. Mr. Steele was a professor at Salem State College for more than 35 years. An intellectual man, he enjoyed politics and literature. He had a special love of the arts and especially the music of the Boston Symphony. He also served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Besides his loving mother, Mary, John will be sorely missed by his dear companion Nancy C. Dennis of Peabody, siblings; Roger F. and his wife Marie Steele of Dennisport, Paul A. and his wife Jeanne Steele of Yarmouthport, Donna M. Steele of Dennisport and Allan Steele of Medford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was the devoted brother of the late Edward J. Steele.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 9:45 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Friday, January 20, 2012, from 5 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. For additional information, please visit, www.magliozzifuneralhome.com.
