Ralph W. "Whitey" Skillin Jr., 68 of Derry, NH, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 in the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. Mr. Skillin was born in Kenduskeag, ME on August 25, 1935, a son of the late Ralph W. and Ruth (Cougle) Skillin Sr. He was a resident of Derry since 1963. He was the owner and founder of the Lifetime Pool Co. in Derry. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Derry where he had served several positions. He is survived by his wife, Shirley B. (Betz) Skillin of Derry, one son, Mark A. Skillin and his wife Cheryl of Weare, NH, one daughter, Deborah J. Kaplan and her husband Steven of Glendale, AZ, four grandchildren, Alyssa Kaplan, Melanie Kaplan both of Glendale, AZ, Jessica Skillin, Kelsey Skillin both of Weare, three brothers, Kenneth Skillin of Zephyr Hills, FL, Cecil Skillin of Laughlin, NV, Keenan Skillin of Farmington, NH, three sisters, Patricia Abbott of E. Kingston, NH, Pamela Arnold of Rochester, NH, Ruth Ann Ver Hey of Farmington, NH, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert & Richard Skillin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 29th at 10:00am in the Church of the Transfiguration, 1 Hood Rd., Derry. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 4pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry.
