Gertrude M. ( Wuosmaa ) Scheibel of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday January 14, 2012. She was 93 years old. Born In Boston, Massachusetts on October 21, 1918, she was a daughter to the late Frank and Saimi ( Leppoluota ) Wuosmaa . Survived by her children, Douglas Scheibel of California, Pamela Poillucci of Stoughton, and Mark Scheibel of Seattle. Also 5 grandchildren, Lou of Stoughton, David, Molly, Peter and Markie all of Seattle and 2 great - grandchildren, Mickey and Meggan both of Seattle. She was also a sister to the late Kay Burgess and Lennart Wuosmaa . Other survivors include her 4 nieces Karen, Marilyn, Alan and Sara.
Gertrude was employed by the John Hancock Insurance Company and the United States Geological Survey for many years. She enjoyed playing scrabble with friends, reading, going to church and socializing with her church friends, knitting and crocheting. She also took the train to work faithfully from Stoughton to Boston.
Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday January 18, 2012 from 10 - 10:45 AM in the Fireplace Room at the First Congregational Church Of Stoughton, United Church of Christ, 76 Pierce St. Stoughton. Immediately followed by a funeral service at 11am in the churches main chapel. The Pastor Rev. Jean Niven Lenk, officiating. All are welcome to attend. Burial will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of one’s choice in Gertrude’s memory, would be appreciated.
