TAUNTON – Manuel C. Costa, loving husband of 65 years of Guilhermina (Correia) Costa of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Jan. 14, 2012.
He was 94.
Born in Altares, Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Francisco C. and Maria deLourdes (Esteves) Costa.
He moved to this country in 1969 and was employed by Texas Instruments for many years.
He also worked for Swanks Inc.
A musician, Mr. Costa played the trumpet and the Portuguese guitar and in his spare time enjoyed tending his grapevine and spending time with his family.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was an avid Bruins and F.C. Porto fan.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Herculano M. Costa of Taunton, Joseph Costa of Berkley, and Gabriel J. Costa of Taunton; a daughter, Maria F. Pereira of Taunton; three sisters, Carmina Cabral of Taunton, Georgina Bettencourt of Taunton, Odete Peixoto of CA; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Noemia Pereira.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday Jan. 20th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 19th from 5 to 8 p.m.
